 rare cases where somebody uses that internal room to "broadcast"
 information, it should be available to everybody - so a "new
 message"-notification would be needed. Currently the windows flashes when
 I have it open, but when I'm just autojoined, I don't see at all that a
 new message arrived (not in the tray-icon, not in the contact list).

 I'm in absolutely similar situation and an option to have a tray icon
 updated on new muc mesages would be very useful.
