Comment:

 OK, I have finally updated to version 2.7.10 but it was not easy. I am
 running FC7 (yes it is old but ..... works). 2.7.9 updated using yum
 update but ..... 2.7.10 just kept reporting no update. I went to the web
 site downloaded the RPMs and did a manual install. (Separate issue I could
 not build from source but that is most likely due to age. Too many missing
 deps)

 Sadly, the same problem is occuring, when I close the buddy list (not
 minimize) it exits Pidgin.

 If there is anything you would like me to try, let me know. PS: It does
 report 2.7.10 in Help | About
