#12982: Pidgin changes QQ buddy number and name on login
--------------------------------------+-------------------------------------
Reporter: Eluc | Owner: csyfek
Type: defect | Status: new
Milestone: | Component: QQ
Version: 2.7.7 | Resolution:
Keywords: qq, buddy, login, number |
--------------------------------------+-------------------------------------
Comment(by aquatooth):
What Eluc describes is a very big problem for millions of potential users.
I have been using Pidgin with several QQ accounts for at least 3 years.
The problems Eluc describe have been happening for a much longer then 2
months.
Yes I know that people would rather support Skype or other protcol with
updates, but there are users out here in the cold trying to use a non-
functional QQ. QQusers now total more the ONE HUNDRED Million users, [FYI,
Skype is less than a quarter of this] yet if you choose to use Pidgin on
Ubuntu AND/OR Windows you soon learn that QQ is NOT REALLY functional.
Please find a way to get some work done on this to support QQ again
URGENTLY!
Some key problems: (Ubuntu AND Windows)
Captcha repeatedly pops up [5-10 times in a row] up eventually locking the
account out with a 'security problem' This happens daily on logging in.
buddies are being corrupted.
buddies cannot be added.
buddies are not shown as online.
buddies are shown as not added after logging out then back in.
(NULL) buddies are shown
Errors to do with buddy information
Default pidgin is set to qq2005. This needs to be changed to a default of
qq2008
Trac system does not support searching for 'qq' as it needs 3 characters!
Icon change for qq crashes pidgin.
I hope this gives the motivation to someone to get this all sorted out so
that it works again.
Note that empathy, kopete, and QQ for Linux (By tencent) do not function
correctly either...
