 > If the system tray setting is "always" this should be working correctly
 if pidgin is actually able to embed the tray icon. In a few previous
 versions pidgin was failing to detect when the tray icon was failing to
 embed correctly. That error was recently fixed I believe. It is possible
 you are seeing the result of that.

 Yes, and I still have a tray icon. I This is on Fedora and the tray shows
 the pidgin icon properly. When the buddy list is minimized, clicking on
 the tray icon restores the buddy list and clicking the icon again
 minimizes the buddy list to the application tray (same as click the - box
 on the buddy list). The buddy list used to actually close and be
 restorable via the pidgin icon.
