New description:

 Pasting link (1) in any chat window in pidgin and then hitting space once
 reliably makes pidgin freeze for me. I have just experienced this in 2.7.7
 and then in 2.7.9 after an update. When copying the link to the clipboard,
 make sure that no leading or trailing spaces or newlines are copied too.

 I can not attach an rpt file because Pidgin freezes and does not
 crash/exit in the process.
