Comment:

 While I'm not particularly a fan of the auto-parenting stuff, Etan has
 suggested perhaps including it and making it dependent on a compile-time
 definition such as WANT_AUTO_PARENTING.  Should be worth a discussion if
 anyone else bothers to look at this ticket.
