#13203: Pidgin 2.7.9 segfaults starting video call with google account

 I'm running Debian Squeeze/Sid mix.

I have pulled the latest version of pidgin 2.7.9 from Sid in order to make
video work using my google account. I couldn't get it to work with version
of pidgin in Debian Squeeze 2.7.3. I also pulled latest version of
 farsight2 (0.0.22) in debian as libgstfarsight0.10-0.

Unfortunately the problem remains in latest version. I have attached the
gdb backtrace. It points to farsight as the culprit for the segfault.
However, in the Debian forums, some users claim it does work:
 http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=57985&start=15
However they are using the proprietary nvidia/fglrx drivers and they claim
it doesn't work with the open-source ones. Does pidgin require video
acceleration using GPU in order to work?

It is also worth mentioning that in my computer, google's browser
talkplugin works fine, but the framerates are terrible and ramps up my cpu
usage to a sustained 85% (single core AMD Turion 2.2 GHz)

If you need more info, let me know
