 As you've seen on your ejabberd email thread you had incorrectly
 configured your server at this point. The problem you are having with the
 server correctly configured is simply that your desktop machine (the one
 running pidgin) is missing the ANONYMOUS sasl module. You should check to
 see if your distribution packages it.
