#13244: SSL problems with AIM causes intermittant issues
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------

Component: AIM | Version: 2.7.9
 Keywords: clientLogin SSL |

Disabling/enabling/toggling at random clientLogin does not reliably work,
and aside from that, it is a workaround and '''not''' a fix.

The problem first occurred while running an older version of Pidgin
(2.7.2, I think); Pidgin's site was checked and, on the basic presumption
that upgrading to the current version would be a reasonable first step,
 this was done.

However, the problem not only continued but happened more frequently and
became an issue not merely with loss of connection, but also in logging in
in the first place. The site was checked, the workaround located, and it
was discovered that toggling clientLogin from whichever state it was in at
the time to the other one resulted in success in logging back in, until
the problem recurred. Pidgin's site was regularly checked to see if a new
 version of Pidgin was available.

As of 2.7.9, toggling clientLogin no longer is sufficient to resolve the
problem: once the problem has started, nothing short of disabling and then
reenabling AIM will result in being able to maintain a session for more
 than a few minutes.

If this is not a problem with Pidgin but rather with the servers, could at
least a way to automate the entire rain dance be provided?
