 Dustin, thank you for your help, it is much appreciated. I applied your
 patch (slightly modified) from the mailing list discussion to add more
 verbose logging to family_feedbag.c. It should go into the next release,
 and I think the more detailed debug logs we're going to get from the users
 will help us to investigate the issue further.

 As for the patch you attached to this ticket, it looks promising, except
 that I applied it and then, when I tried to add a buddy to the invisible
 list, suddenly got this "Action 0x0008 was unsuccessful with error 0x0003"
 error, which I've never actually encountered before.

 Some random facts:
 1. This happened with bid=0x0088, so it looks like we're not safe even if
 we start counting from 0x0030.
 2. This error disappeared when I restarted Pidgin, and I can't for the
 life of me reproduce it again.

 So I think I'd like to dig into this error some more before I commit a fix
 of any sort. My gut tells me we'll have to go for a "more serious fix" for
 this ticket.
