 Sorry, i forgot to post the call stack for the libpurple.dll!wpurple_close
 which makes all hang. Next time ill copy the full stack trace here, when i
 get one of these hangs again,...

 The rest is a list of modules loaded into the address space of the pidgin
 process and all current handles opened by pidgin process. the modules and
 handles list has a header section which explains what entry is what
 information for (comma separated values), can easily opened by e.g. Open
 Office. I am really sorry on forgetting the call stack :-( AFAIK the call
 chain is (top to bottom):

 libpurple.dll!wpurple_close
 WS2_32.DLL!closesocket

 but after that it depends,... :-( Obviously a socket operation blocks
 it,...
