 well, I did a fresh mtn pull&up, and was still experiencing it.  Any
 chance that your patch missed something, or do you think this was just a
 remnant from running pre-patch config files?  Like I commented, once I ran
 this code once, it fixed it permanently for me.  I guess it could have
 been a glitch in the build system (all-be-it, rare), where pulling down
 the mtn tip didn't trigger vvconfig being rebuilt, yet my editing it did?
 I'm not familiar with build systems outside of the linux kernel, but I'm
 guessing rebuild is auto handled by a files atime, so that seems very VERY
 unlikely.
