 I'm experiencing this problem as well.

 I was chatting with someone who uses MSN Messenger and they mentioned that
 they saw me sign off during our chat.

 Other buddies who use AIM (via iChat and Pidgin) have told me that they
 see me sign off and on randomly and semi-frequently.
