 Unfortunately, there still isn't anything odd in the logs that I can see.

 I'm completely unable to recreate this issue.  I can send and receive
 files both with and without a file transfer proxy, both inside the same
 network and over the internet using UPnP port mapping.

 I suppose the next step is to ask for a packet capture on both ends using
 something like [http://www.wireshark.org WireShark].
