Comment:

 no error message.

 yes, SASL enabled

 just long, 48 chars, no non-normal chars in it,
 its just lowercase, uppercase and some numbers

 yes, it works fine to log into gmail.

 when i shortened the password back to 12 chars, pidgin had no trouble
 logging into chat.
