 There are too many bugs for this issue that have been marked WONTFIX that
 I don't think my time would be well spent filing yet another bug. I'll let
 someone more optimistic file the bug...

 BTW: If, in Pidgin, for my German "googlemail", I set the port to 5222 and
 "require encryption", I do NOT get the cert error.

 I'll attach the debug log here in case anyone is interested...
