#14329: Buddy window steals focus when an account is disconnected or cannot
establish connection
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: doublep | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.8.0 | Keywords: ui usability focus
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
I have internet connection that needs to be manually established each
time, i.e. when I login into the system there is some time when internet
is not accessible at all. During this time, Pidgin starts (restored by WM
from session) and tries to connect to the various servers I have
configured. If I'm not quick enough, it finds that accounts cannot be
connected and pops notification(s) at the bottom of the buddy window.
 This notifications steal focus.

To clarify: Pidgin always raises new windows, e.g. on the first
conversation. However, this windows are not active, merely raised. If I
type in a different application, I can continue to do so even if it is not
visible anymore. Buddy list with disconnection notification, however,
_does_ steal focus: it is not only raised, but is activated. Often this
happens right when I'm typing sudo password in a terminal program, so half
of the password (and the terminating Enter) doesn't get through to sudo.
