 When I try to send an sms message via yahoo, using (I'm in the USA)
 +12223334444, it fails:

 (07:31:27 PM) Getting mobile carrier to send the SMS.
 (07:31:27 PM) myusername: Hey let me know if you got this
 (07:31:27 PM) Can't send SMS. Unknown mobile carrier.
 }}}
 However, on the phone, if I reply to a message previously sent, I see that
 message in Pidgin, and I can reply to it.  The sender appears to be in the
 same format +12223334444

 I just started using the linux/fedora client, so I can't say that I've
 ever seen this work.  The previous message on the phone was sent the day
 before using the real yahoo client on windows.

 I'm running: pidgin-2.8.0-1.fc15.x86_64 as downloaded from the Fedora
 repositories.

 I realize its not the absolute most current version, but looking at the
 change logs between my version and the current, I don't see anything
 related to this.
