 Any update or progress on this?  It's absurd that Pidgin sends messages
 that it knows will fail to be received.  In the default install of the
 latest version (on Windows, 2.7.11), it doesn't even give the sender or
 recipient notice of the failure.  The sender sees the message in the
 conversation window as though it were transmitted, the recipient receives
 nothing.

 This is especially frustrating when using plugins such as pidginTeX
 ([http://code.google.com/p/pidgintex/]), because the user isn't manually
 dragging an image into the conversation window.
