 You can enter the chat room and go to "Conversation" > "View Log".

 If you're having trouble with remembering room names, you can use room
 names that are easy to remember. For instance, the pidgin support channel
 on Freenode is called "#pidgin". All you need to do is pick a room name
 that is easy to remember when you create a room. Unfortunately, some
 clients (e.g. Trillian on ICQ and GoogleTalk on XMPP) don't know the
 concept of named chat rooms and therefore don't let you choose room names
 when you create a room.

 However, I agree that there's still room for improvements to the log
 viewer. For instance, it would be useful if there was a feature to search
 all room logs for a particular participant.
