 When one of my coworkers attempts to send me an IM with an image while
 using iChat, I get message on my Windows Vista Pidgin client that the user
 wants to open a Direct IM session with me (so I can receive their image).
 As soon as I open that connection with them, every message I send to them
 shows up for them as a scrambled mix of ASCII (I would guess due to a
 character encoding issue).  The only way to clear this issue is to close
 the connection.  Then my messages make it through successfully.

 My experience with this issue leads me to believe that it's only an issue
 when the other person is on iChat.  This has happened for me on both Vista
 and XP OSes.

 When I was using an earlier version of Pidgin (prior to 2.7.5) I noticed
 that my pidgin client would sometimes freeze while trying to send messages
 while in an open Direct IM session with an iChat user.
