 MarkDoliner: I understand that AIM allows for the difference. As I noted,
 you're still logged in and everything still works as it should. But I
 still get this error if I change the capitalization or spacing from when I
 signed up for my account 15 years ago. I do blame Pidgin for a shitty
 error message that leaves the user completely confused as if there is a
 real problem, how to solve it, or why Pidgin was trying to "change account
 info" in the first place.

 erjoalgo: Pull out Wireshark and take a look (that's the only way I know
 of to figure out what's going on). It could be something else, but
 everyone I've found now is getting it for the reason I cited. Also, what
 you enter in the official AIM client doesn't matter; it would be the
 capitalization and spacing you used when you originally signed up for the
 account as best I can tell. I'm no expert, this is just what I've found.
