 Issue still present on 2.10.0 under the following variation :
 any status changes made in Pidgin in the first half minute after login are
 only shown in Pidgin, but are not visible to any other user that sees my
 account (Yahoo).

 Status changes that are not seen for my account, are only shown in the
 GUI. they don't even appear in the debug window.

 Status changes that do take effect are though acompanied by this :
