New description:

 When I get an E-mail alert that there is new mail in my Hotmail account, I
 click on the link for Pidgin to open my browser (Google Chrome) and go to
 Hotmail.  Immediately Windows Crash Reporter pops up and says that Pidgin
 has stopped working and closes the program.  All plugins have been turned
 off and this crash still occurs.

 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

 Steps to re-create this problem.

 1. Login with a Hotmail account that has unread mail
 2. Click on the E-mail alert window
 3. Highlight the Hotmail alert and either double-click or click open mail
 4. Windows Crash Reporter will appear.
