New description:

 As of 10/13/11, everything was fine. When I went to open conferences today
 (10/14/11) with a friend as I always do, something strange happened.
 Before he accepted the invites, the cons showed that there was no one in
 them - even though I had initiated them and the windows were all open on
 my computer. Normally it shows me in the con and says I have entered.

 He joined, it only showed him in the con.

 When I attempt to post, nothing shows up on my end - normally when I post,
 it shows my screen name followed by what I posted.

 However, there is nothing at all on my screen. But on his, he can see me
 and he can see my posts.

 Whatever I post does not show up in my archives either.


 ETA: Forgot to mention... shutting pidgin down didnt change it, rebooting
 didnt, system restore to two days before didnt, uninstall and reinstall
 did nothing.
