 If you close pidgin, it sends a /leave to all open channels. No other IRC
 client that I know of does this, and they really shouldn't. One very good
 reason to NOT do this is because, many people use bouncers. If you close
 pidgin while connected to a bouncer, you expect to stay in all your
 channels, not leave them.. after all, that ''is'' the point of a bouncer
 ;-)
