 I use 2.10 version on Windows 7. The same was happening to me, only
 intranet XMPP server was ok, MSN never showed buddies online. So I added
 Pidgin as an exception on Windows Firewall and everything got perfect.
 If it doesn't work, try to uncheck "Allow direct connections" on MSN
 account advanced properties.
