 It appears that the source download page does not link to or encourage
 people to verify the GPG signatures that are available as part of the
 normal release process.

 I think that the download page should probably link to the source as well
 as the signature. Additionally, it would be wonderful to be able to
 download the files over TLS protected sites, even if none of the mirrors
 are able to offer TLS.
