New description:

 In Pidgin 2.9 as well as 2.10, custom smileys for me and my friends have
 not been working for several months. We can;t think of any reason why they
 dont work-- weve changed the shortcuts, changed the pics, moves the filed,
 reformatted the pics-- we dont get it and honestly we are both extremely
 frustrated and upset. Smileys make up a huge portion of the communication
 in a chat, and ours dont work!   :(  Please fix it!

 UPDATE:  well this is embarrassing-- it is because of the Encryption
 plugin, which is developed by a third party of course. Well, we didnt
 think of that till now LOL  :P  Bummer
