#15271: Cannot log into gChat or Yahoo IM?

 When I installed Pidgin on my computer the gchat and yahoo IM services
 were working fine, however 2-3 days later I get the following responses:

 Server closed the connection
 or
 Connection Timeout

 My AIM is working just fine on pidgin.  I've always used Pidgin and find
 this is the most user friendly desktop chat app! Can you please tell me if
 there is a setting I should be using?  How do I fix this! It
