 It seems to me that the real issue is that Win32 builds should happen from
 source for all third party libraries. It looks like every third party
 library for win32 is either old and seemingly abandoned and/or promoting
 cargo cult build engineering.

 In an ideal world, I'd imagine that it makes sense to specifically build
 pidgin against a given library version for win32 and to have the entire
 process automated.
