 It would be very helpful to be able to disregard incoming message color
 without disregarding incoming formatting.
 I dimly recall years ago (on a Linux system) being able to do this, and
 it'd nice to have that available again.

 For context, I'm using Pidgin on Windows, and have set up a windows theme
 for light colored text on a black background. This works fine, except some
 contacts have explicitly set their font to a dark color (black or near
 black typically). I'd like to override that on my end, but I frequently
 make use of bold, italics, underline, etc and so do my contacts.

 Additionally, it appears as through ALL MSN users I interact with have
 their font set to black, but this may be an issue specific to the MSN
 protocol or the official MSN client.
