 First appeared in 2.10.0, and has continued into 2.10.1

 Intermittent.
 If I am typing in a chat, and type a word in CAPS, there is a >90% chance
 that the following word will change format to underlined helvetica, and as
 soon as I see that, I know pidgin will crash within seconds.

 It seems that the problem is typing shifted space.
