 I don't know for which (if any) protocol this is possible. But it would be
 really nice to be able to use the buddy icon already uploaded to a server
 earlier.

 What I mean is; for example with Google Talk, most users will already have
 set a buddy icon using one of the many methods available. When one adds a
 Google Talk account, it would be handy if next to the buddy icon button
 and the "Remove" button, there would be a "Fetch from server" button or
 something alike, that when pressed would connect, fetch the already set
 icon from Google, and displays it in Pidgin as a form of user feedback
 that the fetch operation succeeded, and so the user can recognize their
 buddy icon.
