 Hmmm...I think the situation is more likely to work on the current WinXP
 WLM client than on the newer Vista/Win7 client. However, I know on a
 client running Pidgin, WLM contacts running the WinXP client will not
 recieve display pic updates from Pidgin clients.

 I just checked on my mom's WinXP WLM client (the latest version) and she
 cannot see my current DP set in Pidgin, nor will it change on her end when
 I select a different one in Pidgin. I did notice that the Personal
 Messages are working again seemingly...?

 I tried what you said, and I cannot get it to work for me. Changing the DP
 on the WinXP WLM client will not result in the icon changing on Pidgin on
 my machine.
