 I confirm the same issue using windows XP sp3 32bits, pidgin 2.10

 This seems NOT to be a GTK related issue, as discussed in this ticket:

 Any chance this is going to be fixed? It is really frustrating to keep
 closing the conversation windows all the time when I notice that my
 computer fan is going noisy trying to dissipate the heat that the CPU
 generates because of pidgin...
