 Hi, I habe similar Problem. In my chat window my JID is always displayed
 instead of my nickname. I already tried re-setting nickname. Entering my
 nickname in the User-Info fields Nickname and the other *Name fields. the
 Aliases of others are displayed correctly. A friend just installed pidgin
 (current Version Pidgin 2.10.4 (libpurple 2.10.4)
 03f3e779309e683d092706d76a5253c6794d3a66 like me) and Aliases are
 displayed. I can't find any setting which changes/corrects this.
