#14980: pidgin -f does not REALLY ignore network manager when switching from wired
to wireless
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: amishmm | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
 Version: 2.10.1 | Keywords:
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
I start pidgin with -f switch.

Reason that I use "network" service instead of NetworkManager (because NM
still does not support bridge networks). (Fedora 16)

Sometimes I need to use wireless network (for connecting to office LAN in
next building). For which I use NetworkManager. (because its easy that
 way)

Wired network always remains the internet gateway.

No gateway has been specified for wireless connection in NetworkManager.

 Now:
 1) When I turn on wireless radio switch, NetworkManager turns on the
wireless network (as expected) but Pidgin unnecessarily disconnects and
 reconnects (using same wired gateway)

 2) When I turn off wireless radio switch, NetworkManager turns off the
wireless network AND again pidgin disconnects. BUT THIS TIME, pidgin does
not reconnect. And then only workaround to reconnect is QUIT pidgin and
restart it again with -f switch. And incase u forget to do that, u are
 always OFFLINE unknowingly.

So I wonder, why shud pidgin even care to bind to NetworkManager DBus when
I have explicitly specified -f flag?

And even if wants to bind to Dbus, why does not it honour -f flag and
ignore all messages coming on that interface?

So please check and correct accordingly.

 Thank you
