 The last problem I see currently is, that the smiley selector (the small
 pop up window, that shows all the smileys) is currently apparently NOT
 subject to text replacement (at least by the Text Replacement plugin
 (spellchk.so)).

 This is bad, as means that if you click e.g. the astohnished smiley, it
 will insert "*astonished*" but not replace it by the according unicode
 character "😲".

 I've opened bug #14996 for this issue.
