 I seem to have the same or a similar problem. Pidgin has been crashing
 over the past few weeks, each time with the same lines ending the logfile:

 It's always a XMPP ping (I suppose) and then the thread error. I restarted
 it some hours ago and it's at ~520 threads right now..
 I added it as an exception to my Avira AntiVir, but it still crashed. Same
 with the Windows Firewall.
