 I don't know, if it's because of your patch but pidgin now treats has
 signs in links as comments.

 So e.g.

 http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?74915-Linus-Torvalds-Switches-
 Back-To-KDE#post294990

 becomes just:

 http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?74915-Linus-Torvalds-Switches-
 Back-To-KDE
