 I'm afraid that I still think this doesn't belong in Pidgin itself
 (although a plugin could likely do it); the Buddy List is the "main
 application window" - it doesn't seem correct that it wouldn't show up in
 the taskbar.

 Again, if you look at the Windows UI guidelines (which we don't
 necessarily follow fully, but I think the argument makes sense here), we
 shouldn't be using the system tray for anything other than notifications.
