 Additional thoughts on this:  I found this bug because I was having a
 problem with Pidgin when I ran an audio-routing tool called 'Indie Volume'
 (on Windows 7 btw)

 The moment I start Indie Volume, everything in Pidgin goes blank; the
 buddy list text disappeared (only the [+] icons were displaying) and the
 IM windows went black.  If I run Pidgin with Indie Volume already running,
 I have the same problem.  If I kill Pidgin, kill Indie Volume, and then
 restart Pidgin, the blank-bug goes away, UNTIL I start Indie Volume
 again...

 So; reading the comments on THIS 'transparency bug', and assuming that
 perhaps some fixes had been applied to that plugin, I thought MAYBE if I
 activate the transparency plugin (and use almost-opaque-opacity of 253)
 then the Indie Volume problem would go away.

 And it did.

 Thus, it appears that whatever was done to account for this bug in the
 'Transparent Window Plugin' should probably be applied to Pidgin as a
 whole.
