 Oh great I just wrote an extremely descriptive comment and lost it because
 trac moves to another page to add an attachment.

 So, as you can see above, that's what the SSL warning popup should look
 like

 And there should be two new bools name="ignore_ssl_{session,permanent}"
 added to account.xml

 And there should be conditionals on those bools before the SSL connection
 or during it which cause the warning to silently be ignored.

 Of course I don't know what that code looks like since I'm not a pidgin
 developer and don't feel like becoming one, but the fix for this is
 actually really simple

 If someone could write the front-end code for that window I might feel
 inclined to take care of the logic myself.
