 I'm having this exactly problem:

 It's with Facebook XMPP, I'm under the impression this IS your department
 (even though you just told that guy to get lost).

 It had been working just fine until yesterday, now my contacts do not show
 up 90% of the time, restart, reinstall, and other attempts to fix the
 problem have done me no good.  If you feel the need to insist that someone
 else is involved in fixing this and you can't help me, please at least
 point me to them.
