 I would have been happy to unify my patches into the main pidgin-otr
 source but my offer to do so was declined. See this discussion for
 details, the thread linked above was just the beginning of the
 conversation.

 Note that the bugs/crashes mentioned in that thread have long since been
 fixed. The main issue seemed to be that the purple UI is not as pretty as
 the pidgin UI. (That, and the code has not been updated to handle the
 OTRv3 protocol.)
