Comment:

 I don't see anything interesting in the code based on the debug output and
 it isn't something I can recreate.

 If you could use a debugger and stop on
 "purple_certificate_verify_complete", you should be able to step through a
 few steps and see both log messages - somehow the
 PurpleCertificateVerificationStatus (st) variable seems to be messed up
 between the time that the first message is being output and the second.
