 God damn it now I can't reproduce it either.

 Compiled with/without debugging. Tried breaking at that function and then
 just running it normally. Completely replaced test conf directory,
 recreated account etc. Still no bug. This leaves me with only one
 conclusion.

 Hello friend I am from a nearby parallel universe where pidgin has a bug!

 I'll update if it starts happening again. -_-
