 In light of the recent revelations, I am switching to pidgin and pidgin
 otr instead of Skype.

 On the bottom of this page there are many guides on how to make all work
 with google talk, and I have done it, I have two questions.

 question 1:
 In guide number 3: https://securityinabox.org/en/pidgin_furtherinfo
 go to the middle of the page, to ".1 How to Enable a Secure Connection"
 There I chose as they said "use old style ssl"
 but I cant login with this. I have to choose "require encryption" to be
 able to login. Will this compromise the security, I get that the SSl
 connection failed when I choose it. How can I make it work with SSL


 question 2:
 Should I instead use something else than gmail and gtalk, considering
 google gives away the information freely? How should it be set up instead,
 or is the guide correct?
