 XMPP without federation is certainly "really XMPP".  My guess is that
 there are more users on corporate non-federated servers than on the
 federated network (particularly now that google talk is no longer
 federated).

 In the past, there wasn't really a valid use case for what you're talking
 about since without wacky Connect Server hackiness (which presumably is
 what you're doing now to connect to Google Hangouts) you can't have two
 accounts with the same JID (this is actually something relatively
 different than the lack of federation, but probably is more "valid" when
 connecting to non-federated servers).

 At any rate, this is a duplicate, for the most part, of #5086
